Escaping the Reality
I've been on facebook.com a lot lately. So much that I haven't felt like writing much here lately.
Since September, I've been working hard at school, getting things done, and leaving. And that's all I'm going to say about work for the rest of the school year.
J's school year has been kinda tough as well. Her grades are excellent, but I worry that she puts too much pressure on herself and am hoping that I don't aid and abet. It's been a shift for me recently, now having to parent an adolescent.
The economy sucks. My net worth worth tumbled this fall. It's been depressing and I, for all my misery, am very glad to have a house and a job will likely weather the store.
Barack Obama is POTUS now, and that is a huge relief. He's closing those obscene CIA secret prisons. Yes! Education, the economy, health care, ending the war, global warming, and science are back on the agenda. As my friend Dan said, "Thank God, I had forgotten what it means to be American."
The SC Antique Show is NEXT WEEKEND and I have been working on that since the summer. I've been crazy busy with it. We made these scrapbooks which were the major time suck. Here's a sample of the inside.
My college reunion, our 20th, is coming up this June and I hope to go.
I also hope to attend Tech Panel school for skating to see if I can get an upgrade. That would be in April. It's in Minnesota.
After this, I'm paying bills and going running. Have been trying to run 3x a week since going the Turkey Trot last November. I'm down to under a 10 minute mile... but for how many miles? If I could do a 3K in under half an hour, I'd be very happy.
Happy Year of the Ox!

Nice to have you back blogging again :)
Obama is sending an additional ~20k troops to Afganistan. Would you classify that as ending the war. Or are some wars "just" and "needed"? Then I think it becomes a matter of who gets to decide which wars we are going to fight? yes? Bush war bad, Obama war good?
