Up For Air
I think I've got it down to a steady hum at school, so I can relax and focus elsewhere now.
Our trip this past summer continues to inspire me. I want to be a Park Ranger in my next life. Both J and I are reading books related to the Grand Canyon. I am trying to make time for an account of John Wesley Powell's trip down the Colorado through the GC. J is all caught up in "Brighty of the Grand Canyon," the children's classic. One of these days I will hike down the GC and back up again, or maybe take a mule. J wants to run the rapids.
Relatedly, I am just amazed by mules. Like if I were a pioneer girl, my mule would be my best friend. Did you know they are twice as strong as a horse and twice as agile? We learned all sorts of fun facts about mules on our trip this summer.
J got a part in the local children's theater production of Snow White. She is a rabbit (again). I am proud of her because it is a small cast and she was very lucky to get a part. Have to go to the Parents' Meeting tonight.
In other areas, school's been a little tough for J. SC is (finally) adopting the state standards and this is a "catch-up" year in math. J's also at the grade level where they begin giving "demerits" and has gotten more than one already! When/if she gets five, she gets detention. OUCH! Hopefully, she will learn to be organized, even if it's the hard way!
Did I mention I'm Ms. Antique Show Boutique Lady? I need your hand-crafted donations to sell in February. My Co-Chair is L, an old family friend, and we have been working pretty hard on everything already. Over the weekend, I made a purse from a old pair of jeans. I'll see if I can get a picture up here to show off my handiwork. I am going back and forth whether to donate it or keep it for myself. ;)
Last note: The stock market sucks! And as a longtime shareholder of AIG, I firmly believe in Hank Greenberg 100%. It's in the company's best interest to reinstate him as CEO and to give him full reign to fix things. The only person who could possibly convince me otherwise is my dad.
