Decade De Las Madres

From about the time J was six weeks, I have been involved with an incredible group of women through Las Madres. We began meeting in our neighborhood park each week with our infant children, all born in the same year, more than 10 years ago. It's remarkable how similar we all were and still are, in age, education, and attitude. I am, to date, the only single mom, and am so happy for that. It's nice to see how the marriages and families have grown and developed.

We officially disbanded five years ago when the kids started kindergarten at 3-4 different schools. Since we all live within a couple of each other, we still see each other a lot. The core group on J's soccer team are Las Madres girls and we always run into others at the grocery or "the club."

It's amazing how big the kids are now. They are so independent, too. Tonight there is Mom's Night Out dinner celebrating a decade of friendship and motherhood.
