Kinda Back To Work

I started organizing my new classroom today. Since I don't know the 4th grade curriculum really, it's kind of tough trying to figure out what to keep and what to toss. CHANGE IS GOOD my friend M says (as she divorces her husband of 12 years and two kids).

J is doing theater camp this week. Says it's fun.

Went for a complete physical last week. The doctor says I am healthy. A relief, though I can't imagine what really could be wrong: I go to the GYN every year and also get an annual mammogram. And I'm not even that old. But still it feels good to know I just have to exercise and eat vegetables and that's it.

Been ice dancing a bit lately and took a lesson from Sergei. Did I write about that already? Did I mention it was the thrill of a lifetime?! We did the American Waltz and he taught me to keep my upper body 'framed' for 'resistance' so basically he could lead (yank) me around. He also was trying to get me to skate closer and match his lean. What concepts for a strictly singles skater!!! It's obvious I am not used to moving so close to someone on the ice. Sergei also said I need to relax and be patient moving through something -- that was something my singles coaches used to tell me too. It was truly a Life Lesson, I would say, and worth every penny, though I don't think I could afford regular lessons, however much I would like that.

Mission Accomplished

We got our book about 10 minutes ago. There were what seemed like a kazillion people, but everyone was orderly and peaceful.

Now good mommies can go to sleep. And hopefully good kiddies will do so also.

You Go Boy Wizard

Well, I survived the Disney cruise and am slowly recovering from that busy vacation. About to go skating with J and her best friend A. There's been some high-level action on the publics lately, so it might be really fun for me.

Aaahhh, the delights of summer...

We're pretty far out ready for the new Harry Potter book. In our travels, J acquired a "Harry and the Potters" CD plus several buttons my favorite of which is "I trust Severus." Could be that I just love how good a bad guy Alan Rickman can be?

Will be present at the Local Independent Bookseller's tonight by 12:01am for our copy, a little sad to miss this party...

... but am thinking crashing Carter's 40th bash in NYC next month might make up for it if I can possibly manage.

Through the magical imaginations of so many including most especially my darling J, I have been converted to a true fan. Go Harry! If I am not blogging for a bit, it's probably 'cause I'm knitting a la Mrs. Weasley and Hermione, maybe something from this.

Disney Cruise

We have to get off the boat now. J says she won't go 'cause this was extremely fun. Details later.

In NYC

Back home was stuck having to play the role of Animal Nurse. Poor me and poor us! I guess in having to focus on Buster, I was neglecting Myrtle who proceeded to develop a respiratory infection. She was prescribed a regime of nose drops twice daily plus a shot of antibiotics every other day. Sadly, but somewhat luckily, we had to go on with our vacation plans. Buster and Myrtle are with good sitters and I am fancy-free in NYC (save motherhood). Disney cruise is next, then onto Boston.
