Nationals

Nationals have been this past week and this weekend.

My old coach's daughter is skating in Senior Ladies, having won the Eastern Sectional title. Wow! S says she hopes to get 10th. Kimmie Meissner has a triple axel and is so solid that she's unbeatable really, but Beatrisa Liang is super good too, and I really admire how mentally tough Emily Hughes is.

Dance last night was fun watch, too. I like the Beatles pair, of course, and the young Kismet one, too.

Worlds in 2009 are in LA. I might have to go.

They're recruiting for Technical Specialists and I would qualify. Think I might sign up for the training in April.

Nothing as fun as watching Nationals and knitting, except of course, watching live.

Winter Doldrums

I suppose there are no such things as winter doldrums, but if there were, this would be it. Got a flat tire and am waiting for AAA to help. Hate being helpless...

Just talked to my friend B. Her hubbie P, also a good friend, got bad news last night: his mom died. And last week was C's beloved grandpa's funeral. Circle of life...

Rambling Long Weekend

Haven't been blogging much lately because one, my back den is unheated, and two, I have been knitting up a storm, trying to felt. Here's the link to the patternmaker I like. Everyone at St. C is doing this, so I'm just part of the trend.

Money has been my source of evil lately. I seem to have enough, but can get so anxious (and especially at this time of year). Am considering putting everything on Quicken or some other program so I feel like I have more control. There is always something to buy, no? If it's not groceries, then yarn or a backyard firebowl like they had at Target yesterday. Only what you need. . . only what you need. And use those gift cards, dammit! I will not be victim to our overly materialistic consumer-driven culture!!!

Not mention BOYS. My mom gave me set of lip glosses "if you want the company of a few good men." A little scared to try them, but getting braver. All the horoscopes say I will find love unexpectedly(?) this year. My mom and J also got me a cute bag for Christmas.

Rambling on... J is outside playing "Horsetown" with the neighborhood gang. Weather has been extremely cold, not like Establishment-Cold, but still cold. Lucky I know how to dress. If you don't use Launchcast, try it when you're online. I like the "80's Dance Party" mix--very London!

Empanaditas

My Tita L makes these delicious cookies every year for Christmas. I hope to learn the recipe one of these days so I can pass on this tradition.

Resolved?

The New Year has arrived and I've still to make a resolution. Not sure, but perhaps it should be to stop worrying about everything. Or at least to stop acting like I'm worried.

Like, don't worry, be happy.

That's a good one.
