Wholesome Goodness

. . . is what ya get here, maybe with a little vanilla ice cream on top, too!!!

We made these with the neighborhood kids this afternoon and are pretty into the spirit over here having been boo'd twice. The first time was a couple of weeks ago. My friend L called in advance to make sure we wouldn't be home. She and her daughter R left not only the required "BOO" sign and a pumpkin full of candy but a giant scarecrow on our front lawn as well. The scarecrow had a white handkerchief tied around its head with two little eye holes. . . as we drove up to our house, I said to J, "Hey, it looks like we've been boo'd by the KKK." She didn't get it, but I still laughed my head off. Sorry I didn't get a picture.

Yeah, yeah. . . sweetness and light. That's me!!!

Some things I've wanted to mention, but haven't been able to until now: My friend and colleague P (a frequent commenter here on the blog) was recently honored as one of the county Teachers of the Year. Also in the news lately is T, J's soccer coach and our good family friend, who has been honored locally as Best Youth Coach.

I will be busy for a while and mostly offline, so Happy Halloween to you!

Still Totally Focused On My Class

I moved to kinder this year, remember? That means you work extra hard the first couple of months. It's actually been pretty fun. I like doing the more hands-on type projects and the kids are totally cute.

We have a box tortoise now in our classroom that I will try to take a picture one of these days. She's got a zen-like quality to her -- you feel real peaceful with her around.

Sam's election is coming up -- it will be a heckuva month for him. BTW, his campaign team put up a new website that's much hipper than the old one, so check it out.

Found A New Blog

. . . to check periodically, by the author Gretchen Rubin. Here's the link.

The Renewal

We're having a relatively lazy weekend at home. J had a soccer game today -- they won again. We will go to mass tomorrow and afterwards to the pumpkin patch with a friend.

Family, home, and school -- we are back in the routine.

J brought in her hermit crabs for the Feast of St. Francis celebration at her school. The students could bring in pets for a special blessing. One of J's friends, C, came with her Pet Rock. I used to have one of those. . . had a good time with it as I recall.

Soccer Tournaments and Gingerbread

Been superfantastically busy lately, but enjoying my life in general. Trying to make it ice dancing now, but will write more later. I am supposed to walk precincts for Sam this afternoon, but hopefully, he'll cancel on me so I can pay bills and blog.
