. . . at least for the past week. J has been away with her dad again, coming home tomorrow. I've been lonely and have missed her terribly at times, but have also been busy doing stuff. . . Soldiered on campaigning for
Sam last Saturday afternoon. Went ice dancing Sunday morning and to
the movies at night. Had a long visit with B and B -- B is the one with the brain tumor. He's doing okay. Then attended the Opening Night Party for the
Steinkamp exhibit at
the museum Tuesday night. Lunched with C en route through various area knitting stores including the pricy but inspiring
Knitting Arts on Wednesday. Hung out with M and went swimming at the beach -- the water and air temps were just right, a rarity in Santa Cruz. Thursday night I was
skankin' with T and all the other rudies at
the English Beat concert in the park downtown -- we caught
the City Hall funky art display afterwards.
There are some really cool exhibits around town this week for the
Zero-One Festival, a worthy distraction from paying bills, doing the yardwork, and running the errands that never seem to go away! I will try to get downtown again maybe tomorrow to catch whatever else I can.
School is starting for J in a week and a half. I start the day after Labor Day, later because of the construction on campus this summer. It's been frustrating not to be able to get into my classroom like normal -- the end of August will be very intense for me.
