Stil More Rain

It looks like it might be the wettest March on record. . . not only has it been rainy, it's been terribly cold as well. The news of late has not been the best for us either: there continues to be some drama concerning J's dad, our crabs died (Hermie after being with us for three years), and many people we know are not necessarily in good health.

Luckily for us, however, we are doing well, rolling with changes and staying positive. J's soccer team has won its last two games not letting a goal in against them. I found her the cutest handmade Harry Potter quilt, pillow, and blanket set for her bed the other day at a silent auction charity event. Folks at school are rallying around my co-worker who's had an especially rough time lately.

Looking forward to some sun!

I'm Famous!

Lookee look, I'm mentioned in Steve's blog!

Close To Freezing

What's up with the spring?

It's been very cold lately, so cold I can barely warm-up, even indoors. To combat this, I've been wearing a knit cap, scarf, and gloves inside and out, and drinking lots of hot tea. It's been no help that I've had morning yard duty first thing each day this week. Ugh.

Karen Hughes Is My New Hero

The political thing has been interesting, fun, and quite honestly, all-consuming. At right is the pair of shoes I deserve for my efforts towards saving the planet. ;-)

Just came from a neighborhood St. Pat's party. Thank goodness for the people on my street -- after a hectic week, they are always great to hang out with.

Heavy Work Week

For the past six years, I've worked closest with B, who teaches the same grade as me and whose classroom is right next door. We've just found out that her husband has a malignant, inoperable tumor in his brain, so I am reeling from the shock.

First Communion

It's countdown time to J's first communion: Lola just sent her dress complete with twirly chiffon skirt; Ninong J is taking care of the sampitas (or holy cards) back home and will send them here; I "made" the banner for the pew and am working on the veil and shoes with my mom. We will have a nice brunch after the mass.

Because her birthday is so close to the date of this big event, instead of a having a birthday party with all her friends this year, J is thinking of donating the money we would spend on it to charity. Now that's my girl!

Making Dinner

We had one of those delicious roast chickens with the trimmings from the local grocery deli for dinner tonight. It's been a busy week, one in which I reference the wise words of one of my college classmates, F, who wrote this about her present situation:

A working Mom, I have taught the children that when we buy take out it counts as "making dinner" because I "make" it happen.

. . . like totally, and not just on the Main Line.

Work should be a little calmer now, and my candidate should be hitting his stride (or at least I hope he will be). Being Head Groupie sure is a lot of work, but it's exciting too. Sam positively smoked 'em at his debate a couple of nights ago.

This Way And That

I have been doing a lot of real-life stuff lately which is why I haven't been blogging much.

My candidate had his kickoff party the other night and I did a fair amount of work to help get that together. Wore my new cowboy boots I got for myself as a belated birthday present, trying for that "RED STATE" look so I could be bipartisan. ;-)

My childhood friend M, also a skater, was up for adult sectionals, and I was down at the rink yesterday coaching her through her practice ice. It was hilarious fun giving off some not-so-serious diva attitude.

M is an excellent skater, but has never been much of a jumper and she's competing against these women in supreme shape (though with serious wrinkles ;-)) who are doing some huge double axels. Now that takes guts! I hear the Championship Masters Ladies at Adult Nationals do at least one triple. Wow!

. . . and no, I have no interest in training or competing, but was thoroughly engaged in observing these adult ladies going at it.

We also are busy are work. J is doing pretty well -- her team officially starts spring soccer next weekend.
